NOVEMBER 15, 2014 • Nearly two years ago Columbia University unveiled plans for its Diller Scofidio + Renfro-designed medical center in Washington Heights. Now the tower is rising, and its bold design is turning heads. The 14-story building consists of single-pane, full-floor height glass panels, much like those used on the recent World Trade Center and Hudson Yards towers, according to Field Condition and Curbed.

When completed in 2016, the building will host P&S, Nursing, Dental Medicine, the Mailman School of Public Health, and the biomedical departments of the CUMC in its study and teaching facilities.
